The return is a summary.
The records do the work.
Sales, purchases, imports and adjustments need to connect to the VAT return for the correct period. Unexplained ledger differences or missing invoices should be addressed before figures are finalised.
We establish the tax period, review the agreed records and prepare the return workings. Management approval and responsibility for authorised submission and payment are clearly allocated.
A clear scope.
Purpose behind every step.
Period & registration review
Confirm the tax period, registration information and relevant filing requirements.
Sales & output tax
Review agreed sales schedules and the treatment reflected in the proposed return.
Purchases & input tax
Assess the supporting schedules and input-tax recovery considered within scope.
Imports & adjustments
Review relevant import information, reverse-charge entries and other adjustments.
Return reconciliation
Connect the return workings with the VAT ledger and explain significant differences.
Approval & submission
Obtain management approval and coordinate authorised filing where included.
Useful findings.
Clear reporting.
A prepared VAT return
Period information and applicable return entries assembled for review.
Supporting reconciliations
An agreed working file connecting the return to the records supplied.
A clear submission record
Approved return information and filing evidence where submission is in scope.
A return is prepared from the information provided and the scope agreed. Payment execution, historical corrections and additional advisory analyses require express agreement.
Bring the requirement.
We’ll map the records.
VAT registration details, prior returns, sales and purchase schedules, tax invoices and credit notes, ledger reports, import information and relevant adjustment workings.
Before work begins
We clarify the work, reporting period and the information your team needs.
Fees and timing depend on complexity, record readiness, access and the work agreed.
We agree record access, approvals and how unresolved items will be handled.

Specific questions.
Straightforward answers.
When are VAT returns generally due?
The FTA states that VAT returns and related payments are generally due within 28 days after the end of the tax period. Confirm the period and actual due date in your FTA records.
Can we assume every VAT period is quarterly?
No. Confirm the period assigned to your registration rather than assuming the same reporting cycle applies to every business.
Does a period with no activity need attention?
Yes. A period without activity should not be treated as automatically removing the filing requirement. We review the registration and relevant period.
